yeah

but we just barely got clipped by that one storm

there were probably other years with just one bit of rain that were otherwise longer than 71 days :)

rain at airport today

would have been 84 days without measurable rain if it wasn't those 4 hours in July that we had 0.06 inches of rain, just barely got clipped. Would have blown away the 71 days without measurable rain record :)

I think that .06 was in the middle of August?

I wonder how many long stretches of dry weather have been broken by one little shower. Were there longer runs than 84 days? I know the data set is available somewhere and I used to have it in Excel for Vancouver from 1899 to 2000 but can't find it on the web anymore. I lost the data due to a computer crash years ago. Tyler Mode may be able to help with this -Tyler?

daily precip 1940 to 2015 at Portland airport

a bit of excel programming to tease out stretches with only one rain event

this is so much better than doing anything productive like working :)

I don't have to be told how to solve problems in a way that will never work, then be chewed out for not being successful

Do we count a "trace" of precipitation as an event, or does it have to be measurable?

the 71 day record is measurable, so trace doesn't matter :)

but there's also a record for longest period without any rain

Just love hiking in the new snow. Newton Creek trail then left on the Timberline Trail to just below the Newton/Clark Moraine.

Must have been 4 inches to so of snow.

I'll love it if it all melts off. Not quite time for the snow to come back.

Oh, me too! Sept 23rd. First snow spotted just barely below 5k'. At the Timberline Trail junction (5600') it was solid. Offtrail it was right around 12" deep, but on the trail it was somewhat packed. No need for snowshoes, but gaiters highly recommended.
