Three Fingered Jack trailhead car camping

Post by MarsIsCobra » September 5th, 2015, 10:23 am

Any trailhead car camping someplace around the TFJ loop?

PM me if you don't want to post your favorite secret spot, I won't tell :)

There are two or three campsites -- a couple with picnic tables -- right at the Jack Lake Trailhead.

Depending on the loop you mean, I remember a vague spot or two at the Santiam Pass/PCT trailhead. Not sure if it is signed "no camping" but it is the PCT, and thru-hikers probably use it as necessary. Not private, but might be okay if you arrived late when most day hikers were gone. The trailhead is 200 feet off the highway, so there would be road noise.

For future reference, there's several spots along the wagon road up near Big Lake, across the highway. Maybe 5-10 min away.
