Consecutive Days Without Rain

Post by retired jerry » July 6th, 2013, 11:48 am

Record was 1967

June 23 to September 1 - no measureable rain

June 27 to August 6 - no rain at all

This year we had an early start, last rain was June 26

If we can go past August 6 with no rain we'll beat that record

September 5 with no measureable rain we'll beat that record

No rain predicted next 7 days

Maybe a little early to be anticipating this :)

I noticed while Hiking Herman creek that a few of the minor side creeks were totally dry and
a pretty sizable creek that Mayhem and I used a few years ago in late July was almost dry!

Oh no! "patchy drizzle" forecast for Saturday, that will screw up the days without any rain record

Not necessarily. I can recall the summer of '67 when the record was set and there was some patchy drizzle during that dry spell, too. The key here is whether the drizzle is sufficient at the weather station's location to qualify as "measurable rain". If the rain gauge gets less than 0.01" then we're still in the record-setting business.

There's two records, measureable rain and any rain

I would have been 13, but I don't really remember it :)

There's always a chance that the drizzle will miss the rain gauge altogether, depending on where those patches of patchy drizzle decide to fall.

Oh no, there's a chance of a thunder shower tomorrow.

We're at day 19 of the 41 day record for no rain at all - half way there

It's going to be close. Maybe shower will miss the airport.

It surely does feel like thundershowers are a possibility today. Very sultry for this neck of the woods.
