Update your OregonHikers Password (and probably many others)

Post by Martell » February 24th, 2017, 8:31 am

A Cloudflare vulnerability may have potentially exposed your OregonHikers password. It is a low % chance, but worth taking action on.
You can update it by clicking User Control Panel -> Profile -> Edit Account Settings

Field Guide Editors: Please update your password in the Field Guide as well.

Even more important is that there are many more affected sites
Uber, Fitbit, OKCupid etc.

Cloudflare has over 2 million websites on its network, and data from any of these is potentially exposed. Cloudflare has said the actual impact is relatively minor, so I believe only limited amounts of information were actually disseminated. Essentially, broad range of data was potentially at risk, but the risk to any individual piece of data was very low. Regardless, unless it can be shown conclusively that your data was NOT compromised, it would be prudent to act as if it were.

Thanks for the notice. Suggest you post it as an announcement that will show on the "real" forums...some of us ignore stuff in this one 99% of the time.

Thanks for the heads up!
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

Thank you. This explains why my security program alerted me to "threat blocked" when I was on the forum a few days ago. Now all I have to do is figure out a new password that I can remember.
