Hello! I was up at Lost Lake today to do the loop hike and the guide for that page says that there's a $6 fee but they accept NW Forest Pass. I was told that they do NOT in fact accept the pass and the day fee is $8.

You can buy the pass at the gates with cash or, if you're like me and never have cash, at the general store with a credit card.

You are correct, the day fee can be avoided if you park just outside the gate and walk in, will add a mile to your hike but you will have the moral victory
