Cape Lookout Elevation Gain/Change

Post by aiwetir » November 4th, 2015, 11:06 am

Hi,

On this page it says an elevation change of 250ft
http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide ... okout_Hike

On this page it says 450
http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide ... oast_Hikes

On my last 2 trips out there I had 909 and 857 elevation gain for the out and back trip. Do we differentiate between gain and change?

Anyway I looked around a bit and some other people have
1096
1032
991
881
836

The average of all of these is 928 BTW.

I also notice one says 4.8 miles and one says 5.2 miles

Let's make it 5.0 miles and 930 feet cumulative EG and I will make the change! Thanks!

The trailhead is 850' and the end of the trail is 300', so the one-way EG has to be at least 550'. With ups and downs, 900'-950' might be about right for a round-trip.

Thanks. I'm not usually one to complain, but after a couple of hard bike rides, that was just a few hundred feet too much for me yesterday. I bonked/hit the wall on the way back.

More accurate information would have totally fixed that. :D
