I'm working on it......

The weather was "interesting". Got to see the storm cells building on Adams then sweep westward, staying about 5 - 10 miles south, complete with lightening. Got the first drops about 1/4 mile from the TH. By the time I was down by Ape Cave, it was coming down in buckets, sheets of water running down the road. I felt really sorry for everyone still up on the trails.

Aha! Very enlightening observation here (consistent with other posts above).
[edit: occurred to me it might not be obvious to all readers: The right hole was cut with an annular cutter. Unlike a drill bit which converts the entire void to chips, an annular cutter preserves a cylindrical slug.]
