It's a lot more fun to hike a loop returning via the Starvation Creek trail, should you have some masochistic urges to satisfy. Without exaggeration I can say there are over 500 trees down along the route I took following an ancient logging road grade then a bushwhack route up the rest of the ridge.

In 2012 I came down the Viento Ridge, so continuing north from Don's track past the "3" and down to the powerline. There was a horrendous amount of blowdown on the ridge, all buried in deep vegetation, making progress very slow and painful! So that is another possibility for anybody with sinister urges...
