Adding down to a sleeping bag?

Post by Chase » May 22nd, 2016, 10:20 am

Anyone ever tried adding down (and maybe removing old down) to a sleeping back and stitching it back up again? I have an old bag and want to try this. If I fail, it really isn't a big deal since the bag is old.

I've harvested lots of down from down quilts purchased at second hand stores and then stuffed it into homemade down quilts I sewed together. If I can do that, you should be able to replace it. It is definitely a messy job. If you're serious about trying and are harvesting the down from another source, let me know and I can give you some tips and how to be most efficient and least messy.
