Thankjs, interesting
"The fire itself is 100 percent contained, but Pawlitz said authorities saw smoldering stumps as recently as December."
Gorge closure order
Re: Gorge closure order
Good grief, maybe each rock has to be measured, weighed and cataloged before being cemented back into place. Some trails in the heart of the burn area could be closed for up to five years, Pawlitz said.
Re: Gorge closure order
If we have a government shutdown, that could slow things down even further. And who will protect us from the dangers in the Gorge?

Re: Gorge closure order
If we have a shutdown then those sentries will stop working? Then we can go all over the gorge?

Re: Gorge closure order
Those pictures. I literally cried. I really wasn't expecting the low trails to be so bad.kepPNW wrote:(That last link seems to be the one to bookmark?)

Re: Gorge closure order
I'd be willing to try crossing that Eagle Creek bridge
Interesting to see that Gorton Creek and Herman Creek trails don't look too bad, but Nick Eaton does. Maybe go up Gorton, Ridge Cutoff, continue on Nick Eaton, down to Herman on Casey Creek trail, out on Herman
I can't wait until they start letting people in there.

They didn't go very far, only 1.5 miles up Herman Creek (to jcn with Nick Eaton), for example.
