Hazelia Agri-Cultural Heritage Trail

Post by songsparrow » May 27th, 2017, 2:29 pm

This is to inform you of a new walking trail in our area.

The Hazelia Agri-Cultural Heritage Trail, located in the Stafford Hamlet, will have its grand opening at Luscher Farm on July 8, 2017, noon – 2:00, and the public is invited to witness this historic event. A shuttle bus will run from the C3 Church (17979 S.W. Stafford Rd, Lake Oswego) to Luscher Farm (125 Rosemont Rd, Lake Oswego) to relieve traffic congestion. This shuttle service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. We hope the Grand Ronde may be able to attend, help dedicate the trail, and assist Lake Oswego Mayor Kent Studebaker in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mounted copies of the panels will be displayed at Luscher Farm, and refreshments will be served.
Funded by the City of Lake Oswego and maintained by the Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation district, the ten panels of the trail lie within the Stafford Hamlet north of the Tualatin River, an area that is a mosaic of historic, cultural, geographic and rural scenic landscapes that is unique to the Willamette Valley.

This is an area where I walk on an almost daily basis, when I'm not out hiking. The display panels for the Heritage Trail are now in place along the route and provide an interesting narrative about local history and geography. The route is described in the Field Guide: http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide ... _Loop_Hike

This is a great family walk--nice pastoral scenery, easy walking, interesting things to see. Much of the route is paved and is wheelchair accessible. Stevens Meadow and Cooks Butte are dirt paths.
