New parking fees @ Salmon Falls, Little North Fork Parks

Post by CampinCarl » April 27th, 2017, 10:34 am

From the Statesman Journal:
Marion County officials said a $5 parking fee — or $30 annual pass — will be required for Salmon Falls, Little North Fork and Bear Creek parks. The fee will include parking spots on the side of Little North Fork Road northeast of Mehama.

The funds will go toward offsetting costs of improvements at the three parks and in the canyon generally. Overflowing crowds, car accidents, litter, drunken behavior and trespassing on private land by visitors have necessitated the changes, officials said.

Between Marion County, BLM, and USFS, most parking in the Little North Santiam area now requires a fee. There are a few THs in Opal Creek Wilderness and Scenic Recreation Area that are still free, however.
