HR 5758: land-swap bill 'win-win' per Wilderness Society

Post by Rand Man » February 3rd, 2017, 5:09 pm

... and a land-swap bill that is actually supported by environmental/wildlife/wilderness groups, such The Wilderness Society.

Another preview of legislation beyond the horizon, land-swap bill titled "Advancing Conservation and Education Act".

The House bill was introduced in July 2016 by Chaffetz and cosponsored by three democrats, Polis, Lowenthal and Kirkpatrick. The Senate companion was introduced two months later by Heinrich [D-NM] and cosponsored by Flake [R-AZ]. Like the majority of legislation, neither made it out of committee.

The 2014 version was cosponsored by Oregon's Peter DeFazio.

[HR5758 and S 3316] will help preserve America's parks and wilderness while providing states with new sources of revenue for schools. It's a classic 'win-win'.
