Ruck is the German word for Backpacking, and has been used through the trail community as a name for an event that helps you get out and backpack.

This day-long event is designed for all sorts of backpackers (from novice to expert) to prepare themselves for the hiking season. The primary focus is on attendees looking to set out on their first long-distance hike be it on the Camino de Santiago, Pacific Crest, Continental Divide, Timberline, Wonderland, or John Muir Trail.

Whether you are on trail for a few days or several months, if you’re hiking this summer, this is the event to attend! In 2018

This year's topics to include:

Gear panel discussion - From gram-weenie to more traditional, several experienced hikers will show what works for them.

Trail food and resupply overview plus a panel discussion - Get ideas and learn different ways to eat on trail.

Things that can end your hike - Expectation management, injury prevention, and self-massage techniques by specialist Tyler Kragerud.

Leave No Trace and Trail Town Etiquette - by Allgood and Snorkel

Pack shakedowns - Go through your gear with an experienced hiker for ideas to lighten your load. (Bring your full backpack if you'd like to participate!)

Trail specific breakout sessions - PCT, CDT, PNT, JMT, ODT, Wonderland Trail. Get your questions answered by folks who have recently hike these trails.
