Tuesday, November 14, 8:30 AM to 4 PM
Saturday, November 18, 8:30 AM to 4 PM
Tuesday, November 21, 8:30 AM to 4 PM

Overview

Milo McIver State Park, located on Springwater Road between Oregon City and Estacada, is an almost 1000 acre park with many miles of trails. TKO volunteers have been working on one of the more popular hiker-only trails, the Maple Ridge Trail. These work parties will continue work on that trail.

Project description

These three work parties will focus on two re-routes on the Maple Ridge Trail. One is partially completed and the other is flagged only. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn why reroutes are done, how the corridor is selected, and how reroutes can improve the overall hiking experience.

Hiking information

Hike from the parking lot will be less than a mile over gradual uphill terrain.

What to expect

No experience is necessary. You will be working with experienced crew leaders to create a reroute to re-open this popular trail. You should be prepared to hike on terrain that is uneven and sometimes steep while carrying your day pack and work tools. At the work site, you will be working in an area that has no existing trail, so is steep and uneven terrain.

What to bring

Water bottle, snacks, note taking materials, lunch, rain gear — jacket and pants

What to wear

Boots (tennis shoes are not allowed)
Long sleeved shirts recommended
Clothing as appropriate for the weather
Eye protection is recommended (eye glasses, safety glasses, etc.)
TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses
Directions:

Your crew leader will be in touch with specific directions and meet-up details.
