Volunteer: Clackamas River Trail

Tuesday-Wednesday, August 29-30, 8:30 AM-3:00 PM each day. Overnight backpack trip.

Overview: The Clackamas River Trail is a popular 8-mile trail located off of Hwy 224, 16 miles east of Estacada. Pup Creek Falls, almost exactly in the middle of these 8 miles, is a popular destination for hikers. It is a triple falls located ¼ mile off of the main trail.

Project description: The ¼ mile spur to Pup Creek falls has not been maintained for some time and is in need of brushing. At the point where the falls is visible, a large root ball has blocked the trail, necessitating a scramble around it to hike a short distance further to access the creek and the falls. The goal for this work party is to improve the passage around the root ball, making it safer for hikers. There is also a place where a small viewpoint of the falls could be created near the root ball. If time permits, we may work on the crossing of Pup Creek to make it more fordable for a longer period each year.
