I'm fairly certain I'm going to head up there Tuesday if anyone wants to join along. Right now the forecast is for sunshine so as long as that holds it looks like a good day to go. It's about 3.5 miles each way, all up going in - all down coming out. There will be snow to deal with. A nice long break in the sun lakeside. Tons of photo ops and maybe an optional side trip down to the base of Lost Creek Falls on the way down.
Hopefully it looks something like this...
And not this....
Burnt Lake Tuesday 23rd
Re: Burnt Lake Tuesday 23rd
A few of us are joining Gene for this hike Tues. March 23. Here's the plan:
Depart: Gateway Fred Meyer back edge/ northwest side parking lot at 8:15 am
Alternate/second meeting place: Safeway store in town of Sandy 9:15am (Gene will meet us there). We usually park at that NW edge of lot also, near the KFC.
Bathroom and last minute coffee/snacks here, then on the road up by 9:30am.
Hike Miles: it's about 7 miles rt, and there is snow near the lake (here is a recent trip report, although we won't be going up Zig Zag ) : http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/vie ... f=8&t=4350
more info: http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org/wiki/Burnt_Lake
It will probably be muddy and or snowy as you can see from pics, as we near the lake, so wear appropriate footwear and layers. We hike a moderate to moderate+pace, but plenty of time for photos, etc.
I will check here if any questions up till 7:45 in the am, otherwise we'll see ya at the carpooling spots in the morning! : )

Jane & Gene,
I can't believe I'm up at 7am, but I do believe I'll join you! I'll be at the Gateway Fred Meyer, in a tan Ford Ranger. I'll PM you my cell number in case there's a change of plans.
See you soon!
