Tackling the PCT with kids

Post by Fossan5 » August 3rd, 2017, 6:57 pm

Hi! We just tackled 50 miles of the PCT from Timberline to Cascade Locks with 2 nine year olds and a 16 year old. Amazing hike! Beautiful scenery, great trails. Only downside...trying to figure out how to get from Cascade Locks to Stevenson to ride public transit back to Portland tomorrow. Looks like we'll be walking some more. There really needs to be a service to fill in the gap in this area for the hikers leaving the trail and grading back to Portland.

Well we might choose this section as our sister loop plans look derailed due to forest fires (PCT closed on west side of sisters-loop). Now that we are looking at other options.... curious where you camped and how you broke the miles up.. from other reads it looks like some low water sources for day 2-3?
Thanks for any tips.
