Re: Table Mountain, 042318
Thanks for trip report DN! You photos sure do a good job of describing the pluses and minuses of that hike. I need to get up there soon!

Re: Tanner Butte – Eagle Creek Loop conditions 6-11-17
Glad it turned out to be a fun hike. Thanks for the update. Yes, the Eagle - Tanner Tr. hasn’t seen any maintenance in some time and the blowdown, sadly, just keeps mounting.

Re: Tanner Butte – Eagle Creek Loop conditions 6-11-17
Don’t know why the creek was running high, but I would suppose some snowpack on the N NE sides of Eagle Butte and Table Mt., in the Bull Run, are still feeding it well. My guesstimate on water depth was based on a higher than usual creek, equating to knee deep, with a possible deeper pool or two. Ju...

Re: Tanner Butte – Eagle Creek Loop conditions 6-11-17
Thanks Webfoot. Looking further, I think you’re right, it looks more like cow parsnip. So much for that majestic touch. I’d better stay away from this flower identification. Thanks Chase and Karl. As you both know, it really is a fun trail, even with a few obstacles. Karl, I don’t think the creek is...

Tanner Butte – Eagle Creek Loop conditions 6-11-17
Loowit Falls https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4264/35253836426_f87b98f480_z.jpg Thought I’d take a little trip up to Tanner Butte to see how much the snow how melted in the last 3 weeks since I was up there last. The snow drifts were easily 4’ deep, then, so I didn’t expect to see it essentially all me...

Re: Tanner Butte fail
Great meeting you up there MrBlister. :) Those were some good sized snowdrifts, alright. Which is why we turned around not that much further up, even with boots. Had about a mile to go, but settled for the lower viewpoint. What a beautiful day! https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4196/34469871250_d660931e...

Re: Herman Creek Trail downed logs
That stands to reason, except the large majority of the uncut ones were out in the wilderness area.

Herman Creek Trail downed logs
I saw what I thought was kind of odd Sunday when I was hiking in on the Herman Creek Tr. from Green Pt. Mt. There were at least 3 freshly cut out logs that were crossing the trail about 6 miles out. As I hiked in there then become a somewhat constant barrage of downed logs all the way to 2 miles fro...

Re: Green Point Mt. Snow 5-14-17
I just started using the same micro spikes you have and love them for not only snow and ice, but for steep off-trail terrain and walking on logs as well. I would have saved myself a few slips and falls if I'd know about these alternate uses earlier. Thanks Don! Yes, I’ve worn out the rubber on thre...

Green Point Mt. Snow 5-14-17
https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4189/33913943293_ff34f8e6d2_h.jpg Thought I’d head up to Green Point Mt. (4740’) from the Herman Creek TH to see how much snow was up there and check out trail conditions from damage during the winter storms. Started out in the rain, but there were a few short respites...
