Re: Timberline Trail: 6/27/18-6/29/18

Nice report, Brad! Thanks for the update on the Eliot crossing -- the USFS had reported it blown out, but good to hear that it's still manageable on the new route.

Love the mossman... but agree, I wouldn't want to run into that on the trail... ;-)

Re: Vista Ridge to Elk Cove

Thanks for the report! We have a TKO event up there tomorrow to formally dedicate the Old Vista Ridge Trail and do some trail work, so heads up for anyone going in that direction -- parking will be even tighter than usual. Runnerinblack, that first meadow you came to (with the streams running across...

Re: Vehicles on McIntyre Ridge

Back to Walrus, this is worth reporting to the Clackamas County Sheriff, as it's clearly illegal. It looks like you've obscured the license plate on the truck, but I'd suggest sending the image with the plate number shown to the Sheriff and filing a criminal report. The people who do this are small ...

Re: Vehicles on McIntyre Ridge

They've carved a route around the barrier pit at the "New McIntyre" trailhead -- and there also seems to be a route that comes up to the bench -- I've seen tracks in the beargrass there, before. Frustrating, to be sure. I haven't been able to get the Zigzag Ranger District interest in formalizing th...

Gorgeous, Zach! Ambitious, too..! Did you come back down via the creek or Ogle trail?

Thanks, Don! Great snowshoe/spikes hike on a weekday! Very crowded on weekends for working stiffs, though...

Wow! That is so cool, Sugar Pine! Hoping Bobcats sees this post to help out with the wildlife ID.

Thanks for posting!

Tamanawas Falls (no) Snowshoe Hike • March 3

In lieu of my usual photos, here's a 2-minute video from a trip to Tamanawas Falls on Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10JCXQqhE_Y I missed the best snow by a day or two, but still very pretty up there. I recommend arriving mid-afternoon to find parking and avoid crowds at this increasingly...

Re: 2.12.18 Silver Star

Great photos, Tyler! What a difference a week makes, too... I suspect that trailhead is out of reach for awhile with a couple feet of snow (or more) on it! I really liked the second photo -- nice light and dusting of snow on a grove of young Noble fir. My favorite place to be!

Soggy Drift Creek Falls Slosh (Dec 27)

I checked a "never hiked it!" trail off my list last week with a visit to Drift Creek Falls. I've really started to long for my favorite Gorge hikes that I typically do in winter, so am continuing to visit other waterfall trails within a couple hours of Portland. This one has always been interesting...
