Re: Abandoned trail segment from Mitchell Point to Viento
Yes, the place is cursed with poison oak and ticks. Have you ever tried hiking up one of the ridges near Viento State Park to get to the top of Wygant Peak?

Abandoned trail segment from Mitchell Point to Viento
It's possible to walk from Mitchell Point to Viento State Park using the powerline access roads, sections of the Chetwoot and Wygant Peak trails, and a 1/4 mile segment of abandoned trail. The route is 4.2 miles. The powerline access roads are now in great shape because BPA refurbished them when ins...

Re: Good Hikes Near Spokane?
I used to live in Spokane and my favorite place to hike was Mt. Spokane State Park. Some trails are low elevation and some high so you get a wide selection of conditions and scenery. Less than an hour from Spokane. Closer to town is Dishman Hills. The hike to the granite spires at the highest elevat...

We take on the Falls Creek trail during the first work party and the Maxwell Lake trail during the second. Each stint will involve five days of trail magic. The steep Falls Creek trail could have its ...

Re: Wygant Trail + failed Chetwoot Loop + offtrail shenanigans
Greetings, I'm Chip Andrus, the guy from TKO leading the volunteer crews on the Wygant Peak Trail. The area is my backyard and playground so I have a vested interest in this underappreciated trail. In fact, I have mixed feelings about the restoration we are doing because it will just attract more pe...

Re: Wednesday morning in the Gorge
Trail is indeed still closed. I was wandering along the power line corridor starting at Post Canyon.

Wednesday morning in the Gorge
The Gorge this morning was brilliant and void of people, with the only sound being truck chains humming on the snow-covered interstate far below.
