Virginia Lake North Pond

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

View of the north pond, Wapato Greenway (bobcat)

Description

Virginia Lake is the centerpiece of the Wapato Access Greenway State Park on Sauvie Island. A trail circles the lake and a viewing platform offers a vista from its south end. The lake fills and recedes seasonally; in summer it is more of a wetland, blooming with low water plants such as beggars ticks and sneezeweed, and the North Pond, Virginia Lake's deepest section, separates from the rest of the lake.
