Driving Directions

WARNING! DO NOT PARK at or near the gate at the beginning of the hike. Locals get VERY angry about this and cars have been keyed and smeared with animal excrement. Park up the hill in the oak forest on Lee Falls Road in one of the little pullouts and walk down to the gate. ATTENTION: As of Spring 2017, No Parking signs have been put up at all the pullouts along the approach road. It is advisable not to park anywhere near here at this time. You may have to walk in from a distance. Make sure you park on a public street.

Via Forest Grove:

Drive Highway 26 west and take Exit 57 for Glencoe Road and North Plains.

Turn left onto Glencoe Road after exiting and drive 1.4 miles.

Make a right onto Zion Church Road, which becomes Cornelius/Schefflin Road, and drive 3.8 miles before coming to a roundabout.

Go right at the roundabout for Forest Grove via Verboort Road. In 0.5 miles, you’ll come to another roundabout.

Here drive around and go south on Martin Road for Forest Grove. Drive 1.9 miles and come to a T-junction with Highway 47, where you turn left.

In 0.4 miles, come to the major crossroads with Pacific Avenue, where you keep straight.

Keep traveling south on Highway 47 for 6.1 miles and turn right onto Old Highway 47 for Cherry Grove.

Go 0.4 miles and turn left onto SW Patton Valley Road.

From here, drive 5.4 miles up the valley and turn left onto Cherry Grove Drive as you come into Cherry Grove. This road makes two sharp rights before it meets SW Summit Avenue.

Turn right here and drive up 0.1 miles to turn left onto gravel SW Lee Falls Road.

Follow Lee Falls Road 0.4 miles to a pullout on the left side. (There are two pullouts; the road continues another 0.2 miles to a gate, but no parking is allowed here).

Via Newberg:

Drive I-5 south and take Exit 294 for Highway 99W, Tigard, and Newberg. In 0.3 miles merge with Highway 99W.

Go 16.1 miles on Highway 99W through Tigard, Sherwood and Newberg to a right turn onto Highway 240W in Newberg for the Chehalem Valley and Yamhill.

This begins as Illinois Street. Drive 11.5 miles into Yamhill and make a right turn on Highway 47 for Forest Grove.

Drive north for 8.5 miles to Gaston and make a left onto Old Highway 47 for Patton Valley and Cherry Grove.

Drive 0.4 miles and make a left onto SW Bates Road.

Drive on Bates for 0.6 miles and turn left at the intersection with SW Patton Valley Road.

From here, drive 5.0 miles up the valley and turn left onto Cherry Grove Drive as you come into Cherry Grove. This road makes two sharp rights before it meets SW Summit Avenue.

Turn right here and drive up 0.1 miles to turn left onto gravel SW Lee Falls Road.

Follow Lee Falls Road 0.4 miles to a pullout on the left side. (There are two pullouts; the road continues another 0.2 miles to a gate, but no parking is allowed here).
