Horseshoe Ridge Hunter’s Camp

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Trail sign at the camp (bobcat)

Description

At the toe of Horseshoe Ridge, Trail #140 meets FR 5700-320 at a sharp bend. There is also a campsite with a campfire circle here. The campsite sits in a wonderful ridge crest patch of old growth that somehow escaped both the Yacolt Burn and the logger's saw. Large Douglas-firs and western hemlocks dominate an understory of huckleberry. The road itself is covered in snow, sometimes until mid-June, but the trail itself is usually clear before then.
