Giant Spruce of Cape Perpetua

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Posing at the Giant Spruce, Cape Perpetua (bobcat)

Description

This impressive Sitka spruce is 40 feet around, 185 feet high, and over 550 years old. The ancient giant actually sprouted on a nurse log and stands on its roots, forming a small grotto. You can access Cape Creek here and there are other big spruces on the trail in. The tree was designated a Heritage Tree in 2007.
