Elkhorn Peak

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Twin Lakes and Rock Creek Butte from Elkhorn Peak (bobcat)

Description

Elkhorn Peak, at 8,931 feet, is the second-highest peak in the Elkhorn Range and the third-highest peak in Oregon's Blue Mountains. As per Summit Post, it is the 34th highest summit in Oregon.

The peak is about 900 feet above the Elkhorn Crest Trail and is an easy cross-country hike from there. The summit of Elkhorn Peak looms over Goodrich Lake below and just to the east; Pine Creek Reservoir is directly north; and the secluded Twin Lakes lie nestled in their cirque down to the west. Mountain goats make the slopes of this peak their refuge in the summer.
