Cronemiller Lake

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Cronemiller Lake, McDonald State Forest (bobcat)

Description

The dam that created Cronemiller Lake was constructed in 1937 by CCC crews. At the time, a nursery at Peavy Arboretum was being developed to grow seedlings that would later be transplanted over the devastated expanse of the Tillamook Burn. The lake still serves as a water source for Oregon State University's College of Forestry nursery and also hosts the George W. Brown Sports Arena, where members of OSU's competitive logging sports team practice.

The lake is named after Lynn Cronemiller, a former state forester.
