Driving Directions
Drive I-5 South and take Exit 271 for Woodburn and Silverton (Highway 214).
Turn left onto Highway 214, also called the Newberg Highway. You will see signs for the Silver Falls Tour Route. After 1.1 miles, go straight (tour route signs point right) for Mt. Angel and Silverton, keeping on 214S.
The Newberg Highway becomes the Mt. Hood Highway. Drive 1.4 miles and turn right onto 99E and 214 for Silverton.
Continue on this wide boulevard for 1.1 miles before turning left on 214S for Mt. Angel and Silverton.
You will continue out of Woodburn for 6.8 miles and, after entering Mt. Angel, the road bends left for Silverton and Silver Falls.
From here, proceed 4.1 miles to a four-way stop at C Street in Silverton. Here you have to turn right and then left at the next junction onto one-way Water Street to pass through downtown Silverton.
From the C Street junction, it’s another 13.8 miles before you pull into the North Falls Trailhead parking area on your right to pay the $5 day-use fee if you don't have a State Parks Pass.
Leave the parking area and continue driving another 3.8 miles through the park. As you come to the top of a forested rise, a sign indicates an equestrian area on your right down Lookout Mountain Road (not labeled).
Turn left here and in 0.1 miles turn right into the large gravel parking area. There is no fee station here, which is why you need to get the permit before arrival.
