| A perfect day for scouting this hike I am leading in late October.By then it'll probably be raining! This 5 mile (round trip)1800 elevation hike is consistently steep, but has great view of 4 peaks and the Goat Rocks, and will have even greater fall colors in 2 weeks. After about 2 miles of climbing you come out of the woods into pleasant high meadows. There is an interesting huge firepit to the right and below the topmost point with a great campsite to the east( no water though). Take I 205 North to I 84 East to exit 44 Cascade Locks, cross bridge into Washington and go right on SR 14 for 15 miles to Cook-Underwood Rd, turn left here and go 5.1 miles to Willard Rd( marked Willard, with an arrow) and turn left for about 1.5 miles to FR 66 go 12.5 miles, the last 2 on good gravel to TH on right.1.5 hours drive from Portland Sketchy directions in older Sullivan's( he left it out of the latest edition!) or, better, in a little book by Kent Meyer, called Hiking the Trails of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

| Any pictures on the day? I recall seeing LH on a topo map when I tried Monte Carlo earlier this year and wondered about it. I need to get back over to that area sometime. |
